Shots fired inside Wisconsin mall
Investigators responded to a Madison, Wisconsin mall after there were reports of shots fired inside the building Saturday afternoon, according to the Associated Press.
East Towne was closed Saturday night as officers process the scene, police said.
A man who witnessed the shooting tells 27 News it appears a man was shot inside the mall and he saw first responders doing CPR.
WMTV reports the victim suffered a non-life threatening injury and another victim was hit by a ricochet but was unharmed.
The Journal also cited Callahan as saying that some shoppers sought refuge in an employee break room amid orders from mall officials to close down and evacuate shoppers.
A Twitter user identifying himself as Tyler Schiller said “someone yelled gun and we just ran”.
WISC-TV reports the incident happened around 3:00 p.m. CT.
East Towne Mall is an 840,000-square-foot shopping center with 110 specialty retailers, according to its website. It remained closed as of 4:45 p.m.
At least one person was shot, and taken out of the mall on a stretcher.
