Should be formed in J&K without any delay: Omar
BJP sources told CNN-IBN the party has informed Mehbooba that the final decision on government formation should be taken before the Parliament session starting February 23.
Pertinently, as the GOI is not announcing any Confidence Building Measures as sought by the Peoples Democratic Party to create atmosphere for re-alliance with BJP, Mehbooba Mufti on Friday hardened her stand stating her father always preferred principles over power and it will remain a guiding code for her.
Omar said that although an elected government is not in place, the alliance between PDP and BJP is still intact.
The BJP had last week hinted that they were in favour of continuing the alliance with the PDP.
– The PDP should fix a deadline and if no reply is forthcoming, they should tell the BJP straightaway that the alliance is over and go to the people.
However, the BJP reacted sharply today and criticised Mr Abdullah for suggesting the PDP to snap ties with them and said the NC leader had become restless as he can’t stay away from power. “They ask for CBMs, but I am not sure that within the party people know or not, but outside nobody knows what they have asked for”.
He said that even BJP was not aware of what PDP was asking for. She added that Mufti’s vision was a roadmap for the party. Omar said BJP had explored options but NC doesn’t want any relation/alliance with them as it would not be beneficial for the State. The situation deteriorated in both Jammu and Srinagar, Omar said elaborating the State can not be benefited if NC too formed an alliance with the BJP.
“We are told that NC had alliance with then NDA led by PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee”.
Meanwhile, Mr. Abdullah discussed the overall political scenario prevailing in Jammu and Kashmir with senior party functionaries at a meeting in Jammu. “We have time and again made it clear that our doors to BJP are closed”.
Mr. Abdullah said that NC had volunteered unconditional support to Mr. Sayeed past year only because “we believed that presence of the BJP in the government was not in the interest of the state”.
The Islamabad seat is lying vacant in state legislature after the death of Mufti and state is under governor’s rule since January 09.
