Shreveport police officer shot, killed; manhunt ongoing
The search for a man suspected of killing a police officer in Shreveport, Louisiana, extended to Jackson overnight.
KSLA News 12 has learned the name of the officer, but police have not said if all family members have been notified.
Immediately after officers arrived on the scene, they were searching cars in the Del Rio Street area, redirecting traffic and denying access to motorists.
“We’re not going to stop looking”.
Investigators believe they have knowledge on who the shooter might be and are trying to get a warrant for his arrest, Shreveport Police spokesperson Bill Goodin said, the Associated Press reported.
Police in northwest Louisiana have identified an officer who was killed and the suspect wanted in his slaying.
A Shreveport police officer answering a Wednesday night call was gunned down.
“No matter what rock he crawls under, we will find him”, Shaw told reporters.
Later Thursday, Louisiana State Police published a Facebook post that began “CAPTURED!”
Choppers also were being used in the manhunt. “Our request is that everyone pray for the family of the officer involved”, Hines added. “He died protecting us”. The department confirmed to The Times just after midnight that the officer died from his wounds.
“He was doing what he loved”, Shaw said.
