Sidney to host third annual “Trunk or Treat”

Heitsch says kids attending the event are asked not to wear scary costumes, such as witches or ghosts, in order not to frighten young children. During this free community event, free hot dogs and hot chocolate will also be available.
“So much candy”, said fourth grader Daniel Garber. “If you go out and drive around the Northside, I’m seeing all sorts of churches” with signs advertising trunk-or-treat events.

Johnson City’s Tish Oldham said her family sticks with tradition, not only to gather candy from neighbors but to make sure their home is armed and ready to supply trick-or-treaters with candy. The Okland family used it as a dry run for Halloween.
But Sunday’s trunk-or-treat was not only about candy. Keep an eye out for children darting across the street, especially between parked cars. Hundreds of children show up to the event with their parents.
