Both devices will retail for $59, a $10 premium over the original 2013 Chromecast’s RRP.

The Chromecast Audio has a similar round design to the new Chromecast, though with a textured top panel reminiscent of a vinyl record on top and without the HDMI extender built-in.

In place of the HDMI plug is a standard 3.5mm audio jack.

The Chromecast 2 adds a range of performance-enhancing features, including a speedier interface, 802.11ac support and triple-antenna Wi-Fi that can switch between 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequency bands on dual-band networks. The company, which also offers a free, ad-supported streaming platform, has been facing salvos from Apple Music, Jay Z’s Tidal, and other services. Said code can then be used to “buy” the Chromecast from the Google Store. This includes suggesting new shows on Netflix, Presto, Stan or new videos you may be interested in on YouTube. So if you want the Chromecast for free, you’ll need to be signing up for Premium for the first time.

This is one of those deals where you have to pay something to save some money. If you’re using your phone, it becomes the remote control, letting you pause, play and adjust the volume.

Because a Chromecast costs about $35 (before taxes), you’re essentially earning the streaming dongle for free.
