Sikh Yatrees arrive in Lahore
Pakistan Railways (PR) has announced to run four special trains to facilitate Sikh Yatrees within the country on the occasion of 547th birth anniversary of the founder of Sikhism Baba Guru Nanak, which would begin on November 23 in Nankana Sahib.
Hundreds of Sikh Devotees from India would cross Wagah Border on special trains where senior officials, including Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) chairman Siddiq-ul-Farooq, secretary Ikram-ul-Haq, and others would welcome the guests. Bomb disposal staff has been directed to search the all trains by remaining present at all railway stations.
Talking to the media, leader of the Sikh group Sardar Gurumeet Singh said place of Sikh gurus and love given by Pakistanis forced them to visit the country again and again.
From Lahore the pilgrims left for Hasan Abdal town in Attock district to visit the temple of Panja Sahib under strict security arrangements, Dawn online reported.
The pilgrims will stay in Lahore from November 26 to 26 and they will go to Gurudawara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur, Narowal on November 27.
The ETPB, which looks after the minority worship places in Pakistan, has recently built more residential blocks at Gurdwara Janamasthan to provide accommodation to visiting pilgrims. After performing their religious services, Sikh pilgrims will return their country on November 29.
The local Sikhs and Hindus will also participate in the event.
Rumeet Singh said he was grateful to the Pakistan high commissioner to India and the Indian high commissioner to Pakistan for ensuring the arrival of Sikhs.
Guru Nanak’s birthday is celebrated worldwide as Gurpurab on Kartik Poornima, the full-moon day that falls on different dates each year in the month of Kartik, October-November.
