Simon Cowell helps 1D ex Zayn Malik bag RCA records deal
The singer announced on Twitter that he had signed to RCA and posted a picture of himself smiling as he signed a contract at the label’s headquarters.
In a move that may upset One Direction fans, Malik took the opportunity to finally reveal why he chose to leave the famous five-man group, explaining he wanted to make “real music”. “His 15.1 million followers also saw him use the hashtag “#REALME“, E! reports.
He’ll be in good company on the label, which also houses the likes of Justin Timberlake, Sia, Usher, Shakira, Chris Brown, Alicia Keys and many more.
Simon Cowell – whose record label Syco recently dropped Malik – wished the singer well following his RCA deal.
“We have been working on this for a while and I am pleased to say congratulations to @Zaynmalik on signing with @RCARecords”, he wrote on Twitter.
The 22-year-old has been busy spending time in the studio with a Grammy-award-winning producer on his new material in Los Angeles.
Zayn Malik was born on 12th January 1993.
Some fans speculated that the current pop band members are not happy about their former bandmate claiming he is going to make “real music”. Some Directioners feel betrayed, some are ready to throw money at his unfinished debut album-either way, it’s the dawning of a new age.
Malay posted a photo of Zayn with his daughter on Instagram, and the pair are definitely working together.
Zayn Malik parted ways with his former band mates back in March, throwing the entire fandom into confusion and devastation.
I Won’t Mind featured Malik singing softly over an acoustic guitar, which could hint at a more subtle, grown-up direction from One Direction’s stadium-filling pop. We can only wait and see. “It’s amusing, One Direction fans once made up a fake tracklist and one of them was a duet between Zayn and me, so maybe it’s meant to be?”
As far as Edwards being the reason for the split, she explained, “I’m 100% not!”
