‘Sin City’ sets the scene for Democrats’ first 2016 debate
In the alternate reality described at this past Tuesday’s Democratic debate, counteracting climate change and protecting African-Americans from police shootings are the most pressing moral imperatives.
Tuesday night’s Democratic debate on CNN could have been a ratings disaster. So, yes, what the team and I have been doing is trying to craft questions that, in most cases, pit candidates against the other, specific candidates on the stage, on issues where they disagree, whether it’s policy or politics or leadership. “Hispanic youth unemployment is 36%.it’s seems to me that instead of building more jails and providing more incarceration, maybe, just maybe, we should be putting money into education and jobs for our kids”, said Sanders. Given the extraordinary debate numbers, he said, it is “at least an open question whether we are seeing the first really powerful indicator that… a very dissatisfied electorate will perform as they have in the past with a much higher turnout than people imagine”.
“I really liked it when Bernie Sanders said everyone is getting exhausted of those damn e-mails”.
“Clinton’s support among Democratic voters fell 10 points within less than a week”, reported Business Insider.
These Democrats want to spend more on government education, though, again, what we’re spending isn’t producing better-educated kids. “Some lower-level candidates wanted to punch up and try to make a name for themselves”.
“As Clinton is well aware, if she were to stumble, the day after would bring a new round of hand-wringing and Biden-longing among anxious Democrats”, Axelrod wrote.
“Even though no one expects him to be there his presence looms large over the event”, Kall described. “Nothing on late-term abortion and the GOP move to stop it. Nothing”, Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the Susan B. Anthony List, a pro-life group, told the Washington Times. The lack of seriousness from the candidates on that issue alone should frighten any reasonable citizen. The previous record for a Democratic debate on cable was 8.3 million viewers during CNN’s 2008 debate in Los Angeles.
Despite CNN’s bollixed offer of streaming the debate live on the internet (which many people couldn’t obtain for a variety of reasons, including buffering problems), to watch it on an actual television you had to ante up.
There’s a balance candidates must find, and viewers know what they’re looking for, Tenney said.
“Only having five people on stage allows for more questions for each candidate more background for each candidates”, Kall described. Ideas, too, are different among the GOP candidates.
The study has found that being on the opposite party of the incumbent candidate makes the successor three times more likely to win.
If you don’t have a Twitter account, it’s a great time to get one. Debate watchers didn’t agree with candidates on all the issues, but say they were pleased to see issues important to them discussed. “It can affect poll standings and it can affect the viability of staying in the race”.
