Sindhu reaches semifinals of Denmark Open
Indian shuttler PV Sindhu has entered the semifinals of the 2015 Yonex Denmark Open Badminton Championships with a 21-18 21-19 victory over 6th seed Wang Yihan in 45 minute.
The last time Sindhu faced Marin in Denmark, the Indian had succumbed to the guile of the Spaniard at the last four stage of the 2014 World Championship. Tai, who is the Hong Kong Open and World Superseries Finals champion, is one of the most reputed players on the circuit, notching wins over the world’s best players.
In a see-saw third game, Sindhu kept her calm to finish the game and match 21-17, after trailing most of the game to her opponent.
Also, 20-year-old Sindhu improved her head-to-head record against the 22-year-old Carolina to 2-3. Sindhu made a last-ditched effort by winning the next two points but the Spaniard closed out the second set 21-18 with a cross-court smash to take the match to the decider.
The script didn’t change much in the second game as Sindhu once again moved to a massive 7-1 lead and zoomed to 19-15.
Brilliant comeback from PV Sindhu!
The opening game saw the Indian dominate proceedings from the word go, as she raced away to a 3-1 early lead and then built that lead further, to eventually head into the break with a score of 11-5 in her favour.
From there on, the Indian won six points on the trot to reach to the game and match point. But there was no heroic come-from-behind win for Wang as Sindhu finished the game in the next point to take the first game 21-18.
