Singer Adele picks up four awards at the Brits
Adele, who made sure that the audio glitches during her Grammys performance would not be repeated in the BRIT Awards 2016, dominated the night by bagging four prizes.
But when Adele got to the label’s Brit Awards after-party she reportedly demanded to leave minutes after she arrived as she was overcome with stress.
Multiple award winning singer Adele wins big at the BRIT Awards.
“To come back after so long away and be so warmly received is really lovely – thank you so much”, said Adele, dressed in a floor-length red gown, as she picked up her first award of the night for best British female.
Upon accepting her third award, the Global Success gong, Adele was overcome with emotion and admitted that she had been anxious her comeback would not be a success.
“I’m excited I just want to be healthy and be good for everyone”. And Tim Peake, I love you, I hope you’re okay and not too hungry. The singer scooped a total of four awards including British Female Artist, BRITs Global Success Award, British Single, and MasterCard British Album of The Year.
Upon picking up her award for Best Album she apologised for her “ugly cry face” and also for “swearing live on TV earlier”.
“You’re probably getting f***ing bored of me anyway!” she quipped in true Adele style. “I’m very honored. Thank you”.
Joking about the 2012 awards when her speech was cut short, Adele joked: “I didn’t get cut off and I didn’t swear”.
The band are on hiatus at the moment but Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson took to the stage to claim it.
Justin Bieber beat Kendrick Lamar, Father John Misty, The Weeknd and Drake to win the “International Male Solo Artist”.
Like the Grammy Awards last week, the Brits have paid tribute to David Bowie, whose death in January, two days after his 69th birthday and the release of his album Blackstar, caused a stir in the music world and beyond.
He concluded his speed by saying: “David you were mortal, but your potential was super human, and your remarkable music is living on. I’m so lucky to have you love me the way you do, and to support me…” “We love you and we thank you”.
Bowie’s band then performed a medley of his hits, before New Zealand singer Lorde joined them to sing “Life On Mars”.
Past year it was reported Adele only signed on to do three albums with Columbia Records, owned by Sony, meaning she has now fulfilled her contract.
