Singer Celine Dion’s brother also battling cancer
Singer Celine Dion just suffered a heartbreaking loss after her husband of 21 years, Rene Angelil, lost his ongoing battle with cancer at age 73.
Born in Quebec to Lebanese-Syrian immigrants, Angelil started out in music dabbling in yeye – French 60s music – before trying his hand at comedy, and finally settling on a career in music management.
In 1999, her song My Heart Will Go On, from the soundtrack of the film Titanic, won two Grammy awards. Caesar’s Palace also expressed their grief at the news of Angelil’s passing. “Our family is very experienced”, she said.
While it is not yet known whether Celine Dion is making her way to the hospital where her brother Daniel continues his fight against cancer, Dion made her views about the choices she has had as far as it came to dealing with a loved one’s cancer diagnosis.
Dion cancelled her weekend concerts at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas following her husband’s death.

In line with Angélil’s death, Dion shared a poignant tribute as well as the funeral plans for her husband, whom she married in 1994, on Facebook. Angelil acknowledged no wrongdoing and was never charged.
Angelil told the Las Vegas Sun in 2003 that he paid the money because he was anxious about his wife’s welfare as they struggled to conceive and that they didn’t “need the stress”.
It has been a terribly tragic week for worldwide pop superstar Celine Dion.
He also has a son and daughter from two previous marriages.
His funeral is said to be taking place on January 23.
“When it hits me, it’s going to hit me”, she told the newspaper in August 2015. “And René says to me, ‘I want to die in your arms.’ OK, fine, I’ll be there, you’ll die in my arms”.
