Sir Alex Ferguson to help Manchester United convince Cristiano Ronaldo to return?
Manchester United are front-runners in the race to sign Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo, with Sir Alex Ferguson leading the charge, according to Marca.
Former United favourite Ronaldo left the club for Real Madrid in 2009, for a then world record fee of £80 million.
The multiple Ballon d’Or victor has been linked with a return to Old Trafford in recent months, although Paris Saint-Germain are slated as favourites for the 30-year-old’s signature.
“I’ve talked to him a lot [about returning]”, Evra said on BBC Radio 5 Live.
Van Gaal revealed that Ronaldo is a player he would love to buy, but added that Manchester United, which is also said to be monitoring Gareth Bale, is looking at other players as well.
Well, now it looks like he’s chosen, and if true it will only strengthen the bond between the player and his agent, the man many consider to be the most powerful man in all of world soccer. Ronaldo will be hoping to be amongst the goals this weekend as Real Madrid host Barcelona in El Clasico. He won three Premier League titles while playing for the Manchester United before he went over to Madrid.
“He plays on the wings and he is fast and scores goals”.
“Van Gaal is a rigid coach (though), he likes it his way”.
United’s dramatic 2-1 victory at Vicarage Road came at a cost, with Herrera having to be replaced due to a hamstring injury in the first half and Jones suffering a twisted ankle which led to his substitution after the break.
“I was like, ‘Wow we’re ready to bounce back and win the Champions League again'”. Jones and Herrera are not available for Wednesday.
“The objective of the challenge was the ball and not the leg, but we have all seen the tackle and he didn’t just get the ball”, said van Gaal. I know some people think our positional game is boring but I think it is a way to disorganise the opponent’s organisation. “Rooney is ill (but) I do expect that he will play on Wednesday”.
