Skier Lindsey Vonn Suffers Nasty Dog Bite, Shares Video Update From Hospital
However, despite those impressive accomplishments, this weekend she learned a valuable lesson: Never try breaking up a fight between two dogs over a toy.
Vonn tweeted a video of herself being treated on an operating table for an apparent hand injury, which was sustained after she tried to wrestle away a Frisbee from her dogs (Leo and Bar).
Lindsey Vonn was bitten by the injury bug again.
She also thanked Dr. Randy Viola, a surgeon who’s worked with the US ski and snowboard teams, for “fixing” her. In August, she suffered a broken ankle while training for the competitive ski season.
It’s not the first time she has hurt her thumb, either. At the 2009 world championships, she sliced open her thumb on a champagne bottle.
The victor of 67 World Cup races has missed the start of the season but expects to return to competition by the end of the month.
Vonn holds the record for all-time World Cup victories, winning gold in the downhill and taking a bronze in the super-G during the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
Vonn’s reference to Jimmy Fallon stems from the injuries the “Tonight Show” host suffered to both of his hands in separate incidents earlier this year.
The giant slalom in Aspen, Colorado is November 28. She withdrew midway through the 2011 world championships because of a concussion.
