Skunk saved by Rochester police officer
A US police officer gave new meaning to the term cleaning up the streets when he came to the aid of a baby skunk with a yoghurt container stuck on its head. He carefully pulled the trash off the critter’s head, but then jumps out of the way as the unhappy skunk tries to spray him!
Sgt. Mark Lyon doubts that Taylor will get an award, but the sergeant is impressed with the officer’s quick moves.
Since the Rochester Police Department posted the video on Facebook on Sunday, it’s been shared and viewed hundreds of thousands of times. Officer Taylor was called to the 400 block of W. Third St. this morning for a baby skunk with its head stuck in an empty yogurt container.
What the officer didn’t know is that juvenile skunks are not able to spray in self defense.
“Luckily baby skunks can’t spray like adults!”
The police department says this is a good reminder to pick up litter whenever you see it!
