Skype launches Skype for Business preview on iOS, Android
Microsoft will begin inviting users to test the new iOS and Android apps of Skype for Business, the enterprise communications software whose latest version was launched a few months ago.
Since the start of this year, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has prioritized the development of its core offerings for competitor platforms.
Skype for Business was officially released in April for Windows PCs, but Microsoft has been slower to update and rebrand other platforms. Alternatively, you can just find out more information on what Skype for Business is, by hitting the source link below. Microsoft also redesigned the In-Call and In-Meeting experiences for simpler navigation – with larger buttons, full-screen video, and the option to view content and the speaker’s video side-by-side.
In terms of features, Microsoft’s business-focused Skype app will show contacts, recent conversations and upcoming meetings all on your dashboard, as opposed to the default recent conversations view on the general Skype app for iOS and Android.
“The Preview programme provides early access to new Skype for Business features”, Microsoft said. It’s compatible with deployments of Lync Server 2013, Skype for Business Server 2015 and Skype for Business Online. Corporate IT managers can sign to eight employees (four for iOS, four for Android) up for the preview at www.skypepreview.com before August 17th. Administrators have to apply by Friday to be considered for the first testing batch. Once the apps actually go live “later this year”, users will need to have Lync 2013, on which this system is built, installed on their device in order to use them.
