Skywriters target Trump in aerial Rose Parade protest
“Trump is disgusting. Anybody but Trump, US”.
Pate, who has bought similar banner ads for three more Bowls and should really be running for president himself, told CBS News why he forked out a bunch of money to aerially diss Trump: “There’s no place for him”, he said.
Stan Pate confirmed that he is behind the messages, which read “America is great, Trump is disgusting, anybody but Trump”.
The man who engineered the skywriting attack against Donald Trump during Friday’s Rose Bowl festivities has revealed his identity.
The Trump campaign did not respond to a request for comment from CBS. Marco Rubio’s presidential campaign, said he paid for skywriting that appeared before the kickoff of today’s Pasadena, California Bowl Game.
An hour later, the planes were still circling overhead, writing messages such as “Trump is delusional”, and “Trump is a fascist dictator”.
The Rose Parade is part of a new year’s celebration held in Pasadena, including flower-covered floats, marching bands, and is followed by the Rose Bowl college football game. In an interview later that year, Pate said the banners cost him “a few thousand dollars”, adding “people are still talking about it”.
Other messages hitting out at Mr Trump, the frontrunner for the Republican nomination for the White House, included, “Anybody but Trump” and “Trump loves to hate”.
CBS reported that Pate, who like Trump is a real estate developer, has donated to Democratic and Republican candidates in the past.
“I can and I will if that’s where he wants to continue to go”.
Mr Trump’s popularity has only grown in recent months, despite a succession of controversial statements that political pundits had believed would damage his standing with voters.
He said Trump talks “hate, hate, hate”, and that Trump has seen the “first of a campaign that will get his attention”.
