Slain singer Christina Grimmie remembered in New Jersey
Her husband, Bud Grimmie, told people that there was a “gigantic hole” in his heart and he knows it won’t ever go away. News reported his mother Tina said through tears. Petersburg, Florida, approached her and opened fire before being tackled by her brother. “He has loved me and he has stood by my side”.
Despite the pain, he said, “God showed me that He’s way bigger than that hole”.
At a funeral service held Friday in Medford – paid for by Maroon 5’s Adam Levine, who coached the young singer on “The Voice” – Marcus Grimmie confirmed rumors that Christina had her arms outstretched to embrace her killer.
The 90-minute service took place at Fellowship Alliance Chapel in Medford where an enormous photo of the handsome 22-year-old was positioned near the altar.
Christina’s mother Tina also admitted she was filled with anger following the senseless shooting but is now comforted by her daughter being “at home with the Lord”. “Thanks mom and dad I know it’s going to be really tough for us to move forward”.
The video ends with one last goodbye from Christina: “You’re strong, so own it. Love, me”.
When Marcus addressed the crowd, he said “I don’t have anything to say, I don’t have words still and it’s a good and bad thing”.
Friends and other relatives also praised the singer. “All I’m going to say is thank God for the mark that she left on this world”. “She cared deeply and she loved wholeheartedly”, a childhood friend recalled.
Grimmie was shot in the head by 27-year-old
The YouTuber and The Voice contestant was gunned down and killed by a “deranged fan” at a meet and greet following a show in Florida, where she had just performed 22 year old Christina was tragically shot outside of the venue in Florida and the Internet was flooded with poignant messages to her family and loved ones when the Orlando Police Twitter account confirmed her death on Saturday 11th June. After having success with her first independent EP release, “Find Me”, debuting at #2 on iTunes, Christina packed her bags and ventured to Los Angeles to pursue her musical dreams.
