Slight threat of tornadoes, severe weather forecast for south Arkansas
Weather forecasters are advising Puget Sound commuters to take extra caution getting home Thursday afternoon as powerful winds and heavy rains push across Western Washington, according to the National Weather Service.
Windy weather is also expected outside of storms, especially Wednesday afternoon into the evening.
Collar said the timing looks to bring the showers into the Miami Valley around 10 p.m., with the best chance for stronger winds around 1 a.m.
The National Weather Service Forecast is issuing a heads up about major rain and wind storms that could hit the Puget Sound region over the weekend.
After the rain clears out late Wednesday night, strong winds will continue through midday Thursday, with gusts of 45 to 50 miles per hour. Tuesday and Wednesday could produce a few inches of rain. An isolated tornado could be possible. It will be in effect from 6 p.m. Wednesday until 6 p.m. Thursday.
Friday will be sunny with a high near 47 degrees.
Monday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers.
“With strong winds like we’re expecting tonight, people need to secure outdoor objects, things that may blow around easily, trash cans, lawn furniture”, Zogg says. Another factor is that the storms are to arrive in the late evening, much later in the day than the storms of a couple of years ago, so cooler conditions should exist.
High tide is expected at 11:16 a.m.in Bridgeport and 11:16 in Stamford. “So, the chances of precipitation down in the Los Angeles area are not that great”.
Sunday: Mostly cloudy with a 20% coverage of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 45. But the skies are sunnier on Saturday and Sunday with the high Saturday reaching 48 degrees and warming further on Sunday to 57 degrees.
