Small Business Saturday Encourages Shopping Local

As millions of Americans are busy finding the best bang for their holiday bucks during the big Black Friday shopping event, small business owners across America are hard at work promoting their businesses as well.
“We’ll have a big staff presence in the store on Small Business Saturday”, said Kyle Miller, a store manager at Runner’s Edge, the Chicago Tribune reported.
Small businesses have the power to propel the local economy and uplift the community.
If the trend continues, 2015’s Small Business Saturday is going to be even bigger. “You have to remember that these are our neighbors and our friends so you are spending your money and your dollars supporting jobs supporting the people that live here in our community”.
Both businesses will open at its normal store times Saturday morning.
Many small businesses offer unique products, such as Youngstown Nation a store that features everything Youngstown.
There are a variety of special sales taking place at downtown stores for Small Business Saturday.
Started in 2010 and made official in 2011, Small Business Saturday was created by American Express Company to drive shoppers to local merchants across the United States.
“Small businesses donate 240% more to charities and non-profits than larger businesses they are reinvesting in their community” said Knapp.
