Small Business Saturday keeps growing

For shoppers, like Froelich, to show their appreciation for small businesses, many will flock to the local shops on Saturday.
Just hours after Black Friday shopping came to an end, local shops around the nation encouraged those same customers to instead buy local.
“We have items you’re not going to find at big chains”.
Small Business Saturday was first recognized in 2010 in an effort to sway shoppers to brick and mortar stores that are important to local economies.
“When you come in through these doors and you decide to spend money here, you know where it’s going”.
Business officials say their biggest day of the year – Small Business Saturday – is a good time to remember what keeps Delaware’s economy running.
It’s all part of the national Small Business Saturday campaign. Vilsack: “Small businesses are the lifeblood of rural America”.
In 2014, an estimated $14.3 billion was spent at small, independent business on “Small Business Saturday”, according to American Express.
Many small businesses offer unique products, such as Youngstown Nation a store that features everything Youngstown.
Within both local towns and in the county, there are restaurants, retail businesses, sales and fix appliance locations, hardware stores, drug stores, florist and gift shops, and many other locations.
“We believe, we meaning the local stores do so much”.
And these businesses feel the support coming from Sioux Falls residents.
Clothing, jewelry, flower shops and more all within a few blocks makes it easy for shoppers to get everything they need.
