Smriti Irani drops by Starbucks sans security, leaves the internet impressed
People at the Starbucks in Connaught Place, Delhi witnessed an unexpected visitor when Union Textiles Minister Smriti Irani walked through the doors of the coffee shop.
She always stands in the queue, places and collects her order on her own, and leaves without the fuss of an entourage or security, the report said.
No fuss, no entourage, no security.
Dubey wrote that this isn’t just a one-off and regulars at the coffee shop have seen her make a low-key appearance several times. “She stands in the queue and doesn’t jump the queue”, Dubey told Indian Express. “In May 2016, Irani was to be given “Z” category security with armed commandos guarding her in view of increased threat perception to her life after students” protests following the suicide of Dalit research scholar Rohith Vemula.
Here’s what Dubey wrote on his Facebook post that he shared on August 5.
Most ministers, especially the ones who are comparatively more famous than others, are less likely to travel without their security personnel for various concerns.
In fact, we came across another post that was shared a couple of months ago about Irani walking into another cafe in the capital without security.
Smriti Irani, in her television career and political, has been a pet of internet trolls but this does bring her out above the crowd of people who’ll never mend their ways and stay a joke. That’s being a true citizen of India.
