Snap’s connected Spectacles can now be bought online for $130
A spokesperson for Snap Inc. discussed the decision for making the Spectacles available for sale online.
Until recently it was nearly impossible to get your hands on a pair of the techy shades because they were previously only sold at Snapbots, special one-eyed vending machines that looked like a cartoon character and randomly popped up across the United States for short periods of time. One user can buy up to six Spectacles when ordering online. In the beginning, people had to stand in grueling lines to snag themselves a pair, but now, you can walk up to the store and grab yourself a pair. The Spectacles also charge in their case and provide roughly a day’s worth of power. The Snapchat’s idea claimed to further give its consumers more control over the camera features of the application. You get three color options, too: black, teal, or coral. While the Snapbots were an exciting experience, it couldn’t have been cheap to truck them around the country.
On a related note, the Spectacles site previously had a map showing where vending machines were located, but it now simply links you to the new shopping page.
