Snapchat introduces new way to save old snaps
Snapchat has since allowed people to download their Snapchat Stories to their phone’s camera roll, but those snaps were not able to be re-posted on the app. Memories changes that.
Snapchat is known for its disappearing photos and video, but today the app is gaining a new feature that’ll let you keep photos and images indefinitely. Still, you obviously can’t save someone else’s snaps to your Memories, only your own, so that sense of safety shouldn’t be disrupted too much by the new feature.
Some of the other neat features of Memories include a search function that lets people look for certain images by typing in keywords.
While the company blog tried to sell Memories as a positive new addition to its app, the reaction to the Snapchat new feature has been mixed so far on social media.
It’s those older users, those with families and jobs and responsibilities, who are more likely to be interested in looking back on their lives, and of putting together Stories filled with memories.
If you’re following MobileSyrup on Snapchat you’ll know that we enjoy bringing content from launch events as well as creating original MobileSyrup stories on the social media platform.
Those saved and edited snaps and stories are also recyclable.
The coolest part of this new update? If you need a little more background or FAQ information about Snapchat in general (like – what’s the point of it?), check out this handy guide. That’s at least in part because of the assurance that those personal messages will reach only their intended recipients and disappear shortly after that. Snapchat has cautioned that Memories will roll out slowly, and that you’ll receive a message from Team Snapchat when it’s ready for you to use. It’s a reworking of the entire point of Snapchat. It’s also a good reminder that on the internet, everything is forever!
Memories will be rolling out “selectively” over the next month or so, before becoming available to all users.
