Snapchat updated with new ‘Travel Mode’ feature to reduce mobile data usage
Active users spend 90 minutes on Snapchat each week, up from about an hour a year ago, according to 7Park Data.
Snapchat’s Discover feature has brought a bunch of new photos, videos and other content to Snapchat since its launch in January- as well as a bunch of new data charges.
Snapchat has become more data-intensive over the last year as it has begun featuring daily videos of cultural happenings worldwide and content from media outlets such as ESPN and Buzzfeed.
Snapchat can be an expensive habit, at least in terms of how much cellular data it consumes.
Travel Mode – enable this feature in Settings to reduce mobile data usage.
Snapchat added a new setting that prevent videos and streams from automatically downloading on users’ smartphones. In an update this week, the Venice, California, startup introduced a travel mode for users on a budget, reported TechCrunch. To enable it, stay on the first screen when you open the Snapchat app. Tap the “Ghost” at the top middle. Under “Additional Services”, click on “Manage”. Previously users were only given the text field to place emoji over snaps, rotating and resizing from there.
Snapchat lets you cover photos with emoji and expand them on the page as of an update on August 10, 2015. The update also adds support for a variety of new emojis, as well as the ability to tap the eye icon next to your Snapchat Story to easily see who viewed it.
