Snapdeal employee, Dipti Sarna, went missing on Wednesday night when she was on her way back from work.
While the police have been now probing an abduction case, Dipti Sarna’s employers have launched a campaign on twitter under the hashtag #HelpFindDipti.
According to the reports, Sarna usually took the metro home to Ghaziabad, and would then take an auto rickshaw to get to her house from the Vaishali metro station, also one of the busiest metro stations in the National Capital Region.
A 23-year-old girl IT professional at Snapdeal was reportedly abducted from Ghaziabad on Wednesday, 10 February night. The incident created a tension among company officials. Dipti boarded a shared autorickshaw from Vaishali Metro station to the Ghaziabad bus stand, an 11-km stretch, after which she went missing.
After getting down from auto, as part of daily activity, she informed her family that, she was on the way, asking her brother or father to collect her from a spot.
Ghaziabad Police on Wednesday launched a search operation in the jungles of Morti near Raj Nagar extension, where her last location was traced to. The call suddenly dropped and her mobile phone got switched off after that. When his daughter didn’t reach the bus stand, Narendra rushed to file a police complaint.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s office had asked the Ghaziabad Senior Superintendent of Police to personally head the search operation. “Several police teams are involved in the search”, he said. “Her security and safety is our topmost priority”, said a statement released by the company. Residents protested the crime, blocking roads and holding the sit-in.
