Snapdeal in trouble after Aamir Khan’s statement on intolerance
Oscar-winning music composer AR Rahman on Tuesday said he agreed with Bollywood star Aamir Khan’s statement on growing intolerance in the country.
On Wednesday Snapdeal said, the comments made by Aamir Khan was in his personal capacity and the company has no connection in it. Aamir had voiced his opinions during the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Awards function held in the Capital. For the first time, she said, should we move out of India? Some from Bollywood even chastised him for promoting an atmosphere of fear when he should be giving hope to people. She feels scared to open the newspapers every day. Interestingly enough Aamir’s statement echoes those made recently by another Khan, Shah Rukh.
Raveena Tandon, without taking Aamir’s name, tweeted: “Guess all those who did not want pm Modi to become PM, want 2 bring this govt down… sadly becoz of politics, they are shaming country”.
Meanwhile, the government has condemned Khan’s statement saying that knowingly or unknowingly, he had managed to hurt India and himself with his “irresponsible” statement, adding that the “painful” remark has boosted the “orchestrated” disinformation campaign launched by the political opponents. “We are a very safe and progressive nation for everyone”.
Rahul’s support for Aamir came shortly after Union minister Kiren Rijiju said the actor’s remark tarnishes the image of India.
The comment followed outrage on social media well as from sympathisers of the ruling National Democratic Alliance government, who have attacked the actor-producer for his comment, something Mirza takes objection to.
Anupam questioned Aamir if he had asked Kiran “which country would she like to move out to”.
The actor said for any society, it is important to have a sense of security and sense of justice. So it should be seen, how his comments would be received by his followers. You feel depressed, you feel low… why is it happening?
Music maestro A R Rahman said that the intolerance debate is becoming poetic in India.
