Snapdeal replies to Flipkart Lite with Snap-Lite
Announcing the new Snap-lite, Snapdeal’s product officer Anand Chandrasekaran said browsing Snapdeal on mobile browser is now 80 percent faster.
Snap-Lite is available across mobile internet browsers while Flipkart’s Lite is presently operational only on Google Chrome.
Snap-lite is optimised to work with sluggish web connections and customers can entry the location by going to the footer of the Snapdeal web site the place it says: “Experience tremendous quick Snapdeal web site”.
Taking on Flipkart Lite head-on, arch rival Snapdeal has announced Snap-lite.
Stay tuned to GizBot for more updates! In a tweet, Chandrasekaran wrote, “Is there a http://Snapdeal.com experience that’s 85% faster?”
Snapdeal’s Lite version however doesn’t seem to have the app-like features of Flipkart Lite – such as the ability to add a shortcut on the home screen, push notifications, and offline functionality.
Snapdeal’s new Lite website follows Flipkart’s Lite browser for Chrome. And even though 85% of Indian smartphones run on Android, that multi-browser compatibility will prove critical to the overall brand value of both Snapdeal and Flipkart – positively for the former and a bit negatively for the latter.
The announcement comes simply days after Flipkart introduced its choice to reintroduced a cellular net choice – one thing it had discontinued in March. “We have always stood for choice and this is another example of a better mobile experience across all browsers”, he said. Flipkart Lite has been designed for those who do not like installing apps.
Flipkart has joined hands with web browsers like Chrome and Opera to build this first-of-its-kind site, and it has plans to replicate the same with Firefox. Flipkart Lite doesn’t need any dedicated disk storage space and it uses significantly less wireless data than apps.
