SNL Has Its Donald Trump (Plus Hillary and Bill)
The question of who will play Trump in the upcoming season has been answered, with Deadline reporting that cast member Taran Killam has nabbed the coveted role after he and several of his cast mates auditioned with their best Trump impressions. In 2014, Hammond also took on a new role as Saturday Night Live’s announcer, replacing the late Don Pardo. Hammond has done cameos as Clinton following his departure from the show as a cast member in 2009, recently appearing alongside Kate McKinnon’s Hillary Clinton in a skit about Hillary’s presidential bid announcement last season.
The news, first reported by Deadline.com, was confirmed by a spokesperson for NBC. Killam has been on the show since 2010.
He has been a cast member since 2010 and has impersonated celebrities like Brad Pitt and Matthew McConaughey. When he’s not getting laughs on SNL, the married (his wife is Cobie Smulders of How I Met Your Mother) father of two daughters does some movie and TV work, most notably a dramatic turn in the Academy Award-winning 12 Years a Slave.
Season 41 of SNL debuts (along with our recaps) on October 3, with Miley Cyrus as host and musical guest.
