Snow possible Monday and Tuesday
The National Weather Service has issued Winter Storm Warnings and advisories in parts of the tri-state area as a nor’easter intensifies for Monday.
We’re bringing back winter in a big way this week.
The snowfall is expected to begin in the southeastern corner and move inland, becoming the heaviest late morning on Monday. Plows should be able to keep up with it, due to the gradual nature of these snow showers.
“This storm is not going to be a direct hit at all”, Cameron said. It’s all due to a big storm just off the coast.
This hasn’t stopped politicians and social media users from running with The Weather Channel’s chosen names for winter storms – so what is Winter Storm Mars, and who will be affected?
As the storm progresses into Tuesday, a general 1-3 inches of snow will fall with locally higher amounts.
Blizzard or near-blizzard conditions are possible south of Boston from coastal Plymouth County to Cape Cod and the Islands. Stay tuned for any additional watches or warnings that may be issued.
Flurries on and off with very light snow through Monday night could linger into the Tuesday morning commute, as well, but there aren’t expected to be any significant problems on the roads.
Snow will continue early Tuesday, mainly after 3 a.m., with another one to two inches possible.
This winter storm follows right on the heels of Winter Storm Lexi, which also brought a quick bout of moderate to heavy snow to New England this past Friday.
