Snow showers possible in parts of Alabama today
Rain on Monday will turn to snow after the sun sets, according to the weather service.
Temperatures will remain cold today, with highs only in the lower 30s in north Alabama.
By 9 p.m. Tuesday, most of the snow will taper off except for the mountain areas where there will be a longer duration of snow, possibly resulting in 1 to 2 inches of accumulation.
Snow should begin falling by late morning in South Jersey and early afternoon further north. Very little fell overnight with many areas getting nothing.
Even less was expected across central Alabama, according to the weather service in Birmingham, which decided against issuing a winter weather advisory for its forecast area.
NWS’s Morristown weather field office issued a winter weather advisory for the northern Cumberland Plateau, including Scott, Campbell and Morgan counties, for up to two inches of snow, with locally higher amounts possible.

After a mainly quiet day on Tuesday (with the exception of a chance for flurries), we have more snow in the forecast for Wednesday. However, any heavy periods of snow that develop could accumulate on the roads.
The snow will likely taper out by Friday afternoon; clearing up in time for the evening commute.
The state Department of Transportation says the accident happened at about 12:30 p.m. Monday in Madison.
Up to 4 inches of snow could fall in the extreme western part of the state around Murphy. Visibility could be reduced to less than one-quarter mile at time, the National Weather Service warns.

After Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will be cold and sunny, with a high of 36 degrees on Wednesday, and there’s a slight chance of rain on Friday.
