SNP ready to join forces with Corbyn against May: Sturgeon
The Prime Minister added: “That could mean in just 10 days’ time a government in chaos, Jeremy Corbyn in No 10, John McDonnell in the Treasury, Diane Abbott in the Home Office and Nicola Sturgeon and the Lib Dems pulling the strings”.
The paper said the student’s DJ friend glimpsed her falling over the wall at his second-floor rented apartment but was too far away to reach her.
The party would also call for an Independent Savings and Pension Commission, which would consider “specific demographic needs of different parts of the United Kingdom in relation to state pension age”, which could include introducing more flexibility.
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) should be a key focus for global development policy and spending, according to the manifesto document, which also vows to maintain the position of a Climate Justice spokesperson to help the world’s poorest and most vulnerable countries deal with climate change.
Mrs May’s popularity showed an even more dramatic slump than that of Ms Sturgeon.
“My priority in this election is to say to the people of Scotland, if you want Scotland’s interests to be protected and our voice heard, then you’ve got to vote SNP to make sure that’s the case”.
The leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats has said voters are “spitting mad” about the SNP’s push for a second independence campaign.
She condemned the Conservatives for their “assault on social security”, saying this was an attack on the poor, disabled and vulnerable in society.
She said: “These cuts strike at the very heart of how we see ourselves as a nation and our shared ambition for the future”.
The SNP’s manifesto listed ten key pledges, of which one of them was “fair tax”.
“Why? I know what additional Tory austerity is doing right now”.
She argued that “only the SNP can keep the Tories in check” in Scotland, and said it was important to “strengthen Scotland’s hand” rather than Theresa May’s.
SNP also plan to lift the freeze on benefits and abolish the two-child cap and the rape clause introduced by the Conservative government. Claiming to be in favour of a 50p top rate of tax across the United Kingdom but refusing to introduce one in Scotland where she actually has the power to do so is cynical politics at its worst.
But speaking ahead of the launch of the document in Perth, Ms Sturgeon emphasised the likelihood of a Tory victory, despite a narrowing of the polls with Labour.
She said: “The Tory manifesto is nothing short of an assault on pensioners. They voted with their eyes open”.
Asked why the SNP had not chosen to raise the Scottish rate of income tax despite having the powers to do so he said: “The Scottish Government has already outlined its decision this year and going forward on taxes. Rather than face up to these facts, the SNP want to put at risk the thousands of jobs that rely on our ability to trade with the rest of the United Kingdom freely”.
Scotland should have a choice about our future at the end of the Brexit process.
