Soap Opera Star Kassie DePaiva Reveals Battle With Leukemia
But on Thursday, actress Kassie DePaiva revealed to her fans that she has been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia and will not be returning to the daytime soap as planned. She spent six weeks in the hospital and must undergo another three months of treatment for the disease.
“I consider this just a bump in the road”, she continued.
Kassie DePaiva ended her post on an upbeat note.
Her faith, she explains, “strengthens me every step of the way”, and she felt like the time had come to let her fans know why she won’t be returning to “Days” as soon as she had hoped.
Kassie says she has a strong faith and a wonderful support system in her family and friends.
An estimated combined total of 171,550 people in the USA are expected to be diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma or myeloma in 2016, which will account for roughly ten percent of new cancer cases, according to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The “Days” and ‘[One Life to Live]’ family love runs deep.
She plays Eve on Days of Our Lives and has been on One Life to Live as well. She recommended places where volunteers can donate money or blood, platelets and bone marrow. She does ask that everyone keep her in their thoughts and prayers while she travels this journey. “‘Although I’m unable to be ‘camera ready” now.my goal is get back to stirring up trouble in Salem soon’.
DePaiva is a long-time soap opera veteran, appearing on General Hospital and Guiding Light.
In addition to her role of Eve Donavon on “Days of Our Lives”, DePaiva has starred as Blair Cramer on “One Life to Live” singer 1993.
Eve’s return to “Days of Our Lives” will quickly be followed by another absence. Her last appearance aired in February 2016, but she was scheduled to make a return this summer. According to TV Line, Eve is supposed pop up for Brady and Theresa’s wedding and may be abducted by Orpheus. Will she be held captive off screen?
