Some Cry Censorship As Changes Are Made To ‘Street Fighter V’ Character’s
The five-episode, live-action miniseries actually sets up Capcom‘s release of the new “Street Fighter V” video game.
“Our objective with Street Fighter 5 is to start over from zero”, Ono told UOL Jogos [Portuguese], as translated by one NeoGAF member.
Street Fighter veterans may have become used to the sexual nature of some character taunts or actions, so the removal can leave players feeling betrayed by the developer. Although shorter, “Street Fighter: Resurrection” stands to do just as well with the returning inclusion of series icons Ken and Ryu, the fan favorite Charlie Nash, and the fact that this series is a tie-in to the popular fighting game rather than just being a standalone using the same characters.
The Capcom Pro Tour 2016 is scheduled on March 18, 2016 with Street Fighter 5 as its official game and a prize worth of $500,000, as announced by Producer Yoshinori Ono.
We didn’t make any change because of external influences. He added that “these changes came up internally”.
“In the same way that Nolan took Batman back to the roots – it takes an hour before you even see the bat-suit – you have to get people hooked on fundamental characters and story development before it gets too fantastical and supernatural”, Ansah said in a previous interview.
“Probably we won’t be able to remove everything that could offend someone”.
Our goal is, at least, to reduce that number as much as possible so that they think “Ok, there is this issue here, but it is within the limits”.
It is coming to the PlayStation 4 and PC next year, against all odds, and the new game will focus on constant evolution and iteration via a stream of updates, as opposed to multiple discrete releases, as well as a smaller number of fighters, but with more technical variation.
