Some Man Utd games have bored me too, says van Gaal
Manchester United’s players look “bored”, former midfielder Paul Scholes said after watching his old side edge third-tier Sheffield United 1-0 in the FA Cup on Saturday.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Van Gaal said: “It could also be because of the traffic that they left the stadium a few minutes earlier”.
“There are also matches where I’m very bored or angry because we are not disorganising our opponent’s defence”.
I leave the stadium five minutes before.
“I’m not Sir Alex, as you know. But we are in the next round”.
Manchester United are once again considering to sack manager Louis van Gaal following another poor display in their 1-0 FA Cup win over Sheffield United, according to reports from the Daily Star.
United ended an eight-match winless run by defeating Swansea 10 days ago and then followed that victory up with their late triumph over Sheffield United.
The United manager confesses he’s been fed up and furious at times with his stuttering side but while those fans who want to see an animated Dutchman on the touchline urging the Reds will be disappointed.
“They are getting motivation out of us not scoring”.
“No. I am not more concerned”.
Manchester United found it hard to break down the League One side and many disillusioned home supporters had left the ground by the time England’s record goalscorer had finally hit the net.
United were booed off at half-time, but Van Gaal suggested the early exit of fans was not necessarily a criticism.
“They have also been ironic [with their cheering] but that’s also an expression of the fans and that’s good”.
Van Gaal’s hopes of registering a third win in succession have been hit by an injury to Bastian Schweinsteiger, who will miss Tuesday’s game at Newcastle because of a knee problem he suffered in the dying stages of Saturday’s match.
“It wasn’t a great performance, will he (Van Gaal) be happy with it?”
“We haven’t seen anything different now for the last six months”, said the 41-year-old.
“But they didn’t win and that’s the most important thing in football”.
