Some Starbucks’ prices going up Tuesday | Project Economy – WMUR Home
TORONTO – Even with the price of coffee beans falling, a cup of joe at your neighbourhood Starbucks could be a little more expensive starting Tuesday. The cost increases will range from 5 to 20 cents, with the price of a cup of coffee (tall or venti) increasing by 10 cents in most parts of the USA.
For example, a Venti coffee will now cost $2.45 in most USA outlets.
The company last raised prices in June of 2014, when the cost of raw coffee was soaring.
Starbucks, however, will leave the prices of some popular beverages such as the Grande Brewed Coffee and the Frappuccino unchanged in most US outlets, it said on Monday.
“We evaluate pricing on an ongoing basis trying to balance the business’s profitability with providing value to our most loyal customers, and attracting new ones”, Gold said.
The price hikes mostly affect hot drinks, Passe said. The company says the average check will go up 1%, and that it thinks fewer than 20% of customers’ bills will be affected by the increase.
Starting on Tuesday, Starbucks says it is hiking the price on beverages.
But the coffee behemoth claims that prices are rising based on other factors, like rent, labor, marketing and equipment. However, prices for its food items will remain the same as the company hopes to boost food sales.
