Someone turned a laser-etched tortilla into a playable record
Turns out they’re actually quite good at being made into playable records, too. “I chose to see if I could make it work on an actual tortilla”.

Recently, a Vine went around joking that if you put a tortilla in a record player, it’d automatically play back “Jarabe Tapatío”, known to white people across America as the Mexican Hat Dance. It’s still a tortilla, though, so don’t expect much in terms of sound quality.
The user said a few experiments were conducted before the attempt in the video.
In the video, the unmistakable sound of The Mexican Hat Dance can be heard, although it becomes less audible as the needle moves towards the centre of the wrap.
Then again, it’s not like UpgradeTech expected to record symphonies.
The video notes indicate that while the tortilla would be edible after playing, it has a burnt taste.
The user shared step-by-step tortilla record creation instructions on website Instructables.
‘I found that the cooked tortillas tended to shred a bit when the outer cooked layer peels away from the inner less-cooked core.
