Son charged with incest tried to save mom from abuse
Monica Mares, a 36-year-old from Clovis, New Mexico in the United States, faces up to 18 months in jail if found guilty of incest over her relationship with her birth son, Caleb Peterson, aged 19. Monica Mares, 36, and her son, Caleb Peterson, 19, have revealed in an interview that the two have “fallen in love” and are striving to educate the world about “Genetic Sexual Attraction”.
Mares, who has eight other children, told Daily Mail that she was willing to give up her other children to fight for her love with Peterson; whom she had when she was only 16.
She gave Peterson up for adoption when he was a baby, and he eventually found her on Facebook and moved in with her after he turned 18, notes the News Journal. He wants to spread awareness about genetic sexual attraction relationships, according to the Daily Mail website. Mares, who is mother to nine children (including Peterson), admitted to The Daily Mail that she would sacrifice her custody of them to be with Caleb.
“He was too, falling in love with me. and I was falling in love with my son”, she told the Mail.
She said, “It was nearly love at first sight for us when we met for the first time last Christmas, since I gave him up for adoption. I’m your mom and you’re my son, but I’m falling in love with you”. This whole case is about whether I have the right to love somebody and I sure as hell have the right to love Monica. “Nothing can come between us; not courts, or jail, nothing”, she said. “I went to go pick him up at his dad’s house in Texas”.
He said he started falling in love with her about a week after they met.
New Mexico prosecutor Andrea Reeb believes Peterson could be spared jail because of his age, but says it is unlikely Mares will be treated as leniently.
“I’m sorry I don’t know how you are going to react to this”.
Those feelings are prompted by having similar characteristics to a person, feeling more comfortable with those similarities and the subconscious memory of a family member’s smell causing a physical reaction.
Mares and Peterson are not allowed to see each other. They were ultimately arrested after admitting to a sexual relationship.
“Their unconscious minds want to have what they would have had: the intimate closeness, touch, feel of mother and child”, he said.
They have not seen other since, and Mares has additionally been ordered not to have contact with any of other children.
“It is every bit worth it”, Mares told the Daily Mail Online.
