Sonic Mania gets delayed to Summer, but Sonic Forces gets a reveal
After only being titled a couple of hours ago, we already have a full gameplay trailer for Sonic Forces, the game that used to simply go by the name Project Sonic 2017. Sonic Mania features the classic 8-bit retro graphics from the first titles in an advanced engine capable of rendering the game in high definition resolutions.
Remember that new 3D Sonic game Sega teased past year with a cinematic trailer? Project Sonic will be called Sonic Forces.

The news comes as SEGA released a new gameplay trailer showcasing Flying Battery Zone in Angel Island, including the return of Eggman’s airship armada last seen in Sonic 3. Sonic Mania was to be initially released in spring 2017 but is pushed back to summer, later this year. If you look closely at the video at the 10-second point, it seems like the containers Sonic is collecting hold some sort of creatures he’s rescuing.
In June of a year ago the team now in charge of Sonic told MCV that it is determined to rectify past mistakes.
Sonic fans may be excited for 2017 with the number of Sonic titles in the chute.
Sonic Mania was originally expected to arrive in May but after this delay, that will no longer be the case. The panel included Twitter mastermind Aaron Webber and Sonic Team head Takashi Iizuka, who brought along details about the title which is scheduled for a holiday release.
It looks like we’ll get some gameplay impressions tomorrow.
