Sony Launches Live Screen Sharing App
If you disable MXTP, you can only let bootloader unlocking from here, which will need you to key in your security details. This new feature aims to offer increased security, operating at the bootloader level.
Some device owners, however, prefer to unlock the bootloader so they can put custom ROMs on their Xperia device. However, the app only works with a few Xperia devices at present. Unfortunately, this has consequences for those who like to unlock their bootloaders. MXTP interferes with this, as enabling this security feature will automatically eliminate the ability to unlock the bootloader. This is said to happen due to MXTP’s efforts to prevent the bootloader-unlocking on an Xperia handset that already has an unlocked bootloader.
The functionality will also be available on the company’s Z4 tablet. The problem comes about when you enable MXTP with an already unlocked bootloader. The feature then tries to block unlocking of the bootloader and this causes a malfunction on the device possibly bricking it.
Sony is aware of the issue and instead of a solution, has recently changed some wording on its Unlocked Bootloader website under the “Risks” section. The company could be waiting to fix the MXTP issue first.
