Sony Offers Free Online Multiplayer For the PS4 This Weekend
All PlayStation 4 owners will be able to load up their catalogue of multiplayer games and play online with friends this weekend, even if they don’t have a PlayStation Plus subscription.
PlayStation 4 owners can check out free online multiplayer for free starting on Friday, December 11th at 12:01 AM Pacific through Sunday, December 13, at 11:59 PM Pacific. PlayStation Plus subscribers also enjoy the perks of being in the league by having discounts on PlayStation Stores as well as two free games each month. That makes sense given that it recently lowered the price of its Star Wars Battlefront PS4 bundle to $299.
Sony will be treating everyone that owns a PS4 to free online multiplayer this weekend. This is now available to play completely for free this weekend.
According to the PlayStation Blog, players will be rewarded the chance to play “Star Wars Battlefront’s” Battle of Jakku for free, and this will be ahead of the premiere of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”. In a promotional image for the event, Sony teases Star Wars Battlefront, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, National Basketball Association 2K16, Madden NFL 16, Destiny: The Taken King and Grand Theft Auto Online.
The existing PlayStation App already let you send messages, but, due to the popularity of messaging in the app, Sony has now followed in the footsteps of Facebook and released another app focused exclusively on chatting. There’s no membership commitment required to try out online multiplayer during this period.
As of today, December 6, Sony’s Playstation 4 price cut goes into effect. Normally this service costs $19.99 for one month, and $44.99 for three months, well worth getting the subscription.
Sony’s December promotions do not stop there.
The players are urged to turn on their consoles and open their favorite multiplayer game, as they will be given free access to it during the specified times.
