Sony Plans “Men in Black” Revival Trilogy
Though the franchise as a whole was a box office success, the number of years it took for the sequels to happen may have had an effect on Men in Black 4, as none of the cast seemed remotely interested in returning to reprise their roles.
Stare into the little light that Will Smith is holding in the image above, because you’ll want to wipe the memory of the original “Men In Black” trilogy from your memory. Why? Parkes and MacDonald chatted with The Hollywood Reporter and revealed their plans.
A sequel for Smith’s other huge 90s franchise Independence Day is now in production without the star, whose production company is reportedly set to produce a new series inspired by Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air.
“We’re in the middle of it. It’s very active”, Parkes revealed, with MacDonald adding: “It will be reinvented as a trilogy.”
Is Will Smith going to be part of it? So far, so pretty much standard for Hollywood these days.
Brolin’s one and only appearance in the trilogy was in Men In Black III.
The existence of a new reboot raises plenty of questions. Well, a 21 Jump Street/Men in Black crossover still isn’t out of the question. Smith and Jones appeared in all three films, which were in turn all directed by Barry Sonnenfeld.
Tommy Lee Jones is 69 years old and staying busy with plenty of work on his own anyway. Either way, it looks like we haven’t seen the last of the Men in Black.
