Sony PlayStation 4 balloons to 30-million sales worldwide
PlayStation spokesperson and President of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.’s Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida confirmed an official application for “Remote Play” support on Mac and PC is in progress, according to Polygon.
“PS4 continues to be the premier platform for game and interactive entertainment innovation”.
So far, 2015 has been the best year the console has seen yet, but it’s still no PlayStation 2.
VGChartz’s unofficial and unverified count puts the total number of Xbox Ones sold at 15.6 million, and says that Nintendo has sold 11 million Wii Us.
The figure, revealed in a press release today, makes PlayStation 4 the fastest-selling console in the history of PlayStation hardware. Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter estimated that Microsoft had sold about 14 million Xbox Ones prior to the release of Halo 5: Guardians, a game expected to drive console sales. The folks at Engadget reports that Sony has sold 30.2 million units in 124 countries globally. While Remote Play works great sometimes, it doesn’t adapt as well to variable network conditions as was the Microsoft’s Xbox One streaming solution. They include Dragon Quest Builders, Ryu Ga Gotoku, Bloodborne: The Old Hunters Edition, Gravity Rush Remaster, and Unchartered 4: A Thief’s End. The company has been offering numerous bundles as well as price cuts in recent weeks, which may be a tactic to catch-up with Sony’s PlayStation 4 sales.
The game streaming feature, which will enable users of PS4 gaming console to play their games on PC, will be called “Remote Play” by Sony.
