Sony PlayStation VR System Gets a Launch Date and Price

Luckily for the Playstation fans, Sony is looking to make that a little easier with their PS Move Controller Bundle. So while Microsoft hyped a pair of new machines in its pre-E3 presser, Sony execs didn’t even mention the PlayStation 4K, focusing instead on a slew of blockbuster game titles, and the big leap that could finally push virtual reality into the mainstream.

No pricing or release date was announced for either the controller or Farpoint.

In one final surprise, it was revealed that Insomniac Games – creators of Spyro, Ratchet & Clank and Sunset Overdrive – are developing a new Spider-Man game.

Final Fantasy 15 Confusing teaser highlighted the fact that PS VR owners will exclusively be able to play as Prompto, available 30/9/2016.

Layden said that PlayStation VR headsets will work with PS4 consoles, more than 40 million of which have been sold.

Between exclusive titles like Batman: Arkham VR and content set for big releases like Resident Evil 7, the tech looks very impressive- and a new peripheral meant to complement the headset seems like a great addition. Yes, Resident Evil 7 is going first-person with a potent atmosphere that takes the shocks of that Kitchen VR demo and smothers it in PT and Silent Hills nightmares.

PlayStation’s announcement, however, is the first VR headset to be created to work specifically with a games console.

Now that the Sony PlayStation VR virtual reality headset has a release date of 13 October and price of £350, it’s time to start thinking about gaming with it.

Developer, Impulse Gear, is already claiming it enables ‘things in Farpoint that just are not possible in a standard game’. The game is fully played on VR and will be shipped in fall this year.

Sony has priced its Playstation VR very attractively, but gaming titles are what count.
