Sony’s PlayStation Network is down worldwide
You may have some difficulty launching games, applications, or online features. Hopefully Sony is able to resolve the issues soon so that users can connect to PSN and play their games online with friends and colleagues.
The Playstation Plus network was down yesterday, from yesterday afternoon/early evening time (GMT) to the early hours of this morning (GMT).
Surprisingly Playstation’s own status tracking website, status.playstation.com/en-us/ shows that all services are up and running.
Keep in mind that the PlayStation Now streaming service has also been taken offline, leaving fans unable to stream any titles, while media apps have been left badly affected.
There was talk about denial-of-service (DoS) attacks on the gaming networks before the holiday break, and Sony is often the victim of such poor e-sportsmanship.
Thanks for your patience today – stay tuned for details on PS Plus, PS Now, and video rental extensions.
Sony is experiencing the Monday blues. Potentially putting the company at risk of losing millions of dollars in transactions going missing and damages. Both services did not experience any significant problem during the Christmas holidays even after receiving threats from hackers. Phantom Squad claimed it was responsible for Xbox Live being down briefly. However, one Twitter user shared an Interesting DDoS map showing cyber attacks on the USA from Chinese side (That doesn’t mean there was an attack on PlayStation network by Chinese hackers).
A tweet from the company confirms this, saying: “It’s unclear what the cause of the current outage”.
