Sony’s Steve Jobs biopic hit by fresh controversies

Finally, the film is scheduled to hit movie screens on Friday, and a source involved in its making told the Hollywood Reporter that for several years.

Fassbender takes on the lead role in the upcoming biopic Steve Jobs, but he isn’t the first to have stepped into Jobs’ shoes.

Ive, who worked with Jobs for 14 years at Apple, spoke of his frustration with seeing films that celebrate Jobs’ memory but portray the Apple CEO in a ways he doesn’t feel is accurate.

Sorkin and Boyle sat down for a panel discussion about Steve Jobs after a screening of the film this week in Manhattan.

Ives admitted to the Wall Street Journal that he hasn’t yet seen Steve Jobs. The movie of the same name, directed by Danny Boyle and starring Michael Fassbender as the Apple CEO, is no different.

Despite the blowback from the Jobs’ estate, the film has gotten highly positive reviews (currently at 94% on Rotten Tomatoes) and could result in Oscar nominations for Fassbender and his co-star Kate Winslet. The company also shared “a look inside” the newly released film, including short interview clips with its cast and crew that focus on writer Aaron Sorkin and director Danny Boyle.

I’m not sure I understand the concept of “more important truth”, but I do know that Steve Jobs is a fascinating attempt to find a man within a myth, all while creating a new myth of its own.

I loved the Social Network, which was also written by Sorkin, and assumed the story of the college kid who stole an idea for a new website from two rich twins and drove it to fantastic success was the true story of Facebook.
