SONY: The big changes coming with PS4 update this summer REVEALED
Sadly, there is no concrete date yet as to the official release for the said 3.00 PS4 update, according to IGN, but Sony promises to bring more information updates soon. The new Communities feature will allow users to create communities around specific games, genres, or shared interests. Events such as Double XP weekend, seasonal events, and the like will be displayed on the hub.
The Live from PlayStation app is also getting an update, designed to make it easier to see which are the most popular broadcasts at any given time.
Codenamed Kenshin, update 3.0.0 is set to include some new live streaming capabilities, additional online storage, and other quality of life updates. Not only this, gamers will also be able to upload their recorded 10 second in-game video clips onto Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Dailymotion directly through their PS4 consoles. If accepted, that either starts a live broadcast or kicks off a Share Play invitation.
Stickers – Add stickers to your messages, just like you do one your phone and Facebook. In addition, the new feature will also rock a meter in order to help the member monitor storage usage.
Head to the PlayStation Blog for a fuller rundown. Bear in mind that the list is subject to change, as Sony will test the budding new features internally before giving the go-ahead. Along with that players will get a new community area for “current players” that allow them to talk about the games they are playing, along with an updated area so show more current activities within the game. Communities include a message board with general discussion, screenshots shared by players, and the ability to join parties / games.
Also added is Favourite Groups, which lets you access groups of people you like to play games with frequently.
This is a more convenient method of communication instead of having to type messages during game battles, which majority would agree is a pretty irksome task.
Online storage capacity has been increased from 1GB to 10GB for all the members of PS Plus.
With the new Request to Watch option, you can see a live broadcast or share the game your friend is playing via the system’s Share Play feature. Sony Vice President of Platforms Marketing John Koller says the update will roll out to registered beta testers very soon, although he declined to mention a timeline for when we can expect Sony to release the update to the wider public.
