Sony to launch 4K streaming service in US this year
The XBR-X850D Series will be available in 55-inch, 65-inch, 75-inch and 85-inch models, all of which will have Sony‘s Triluminos Display, support for HDR, and Android TV interface, but don’t feature X-tended Dynamic Range Pro. Although, Sony has not revealed its price, it is expected that it would hit the market with an expensive price tag. Both of the UP130 and US5800 lineups are available in 43-inch, 50-inch, 55-inch, and 60-inch, starting from $600 onward. Combined with the Dynamic Range PRO technology, the backlight will be optimized to feature deeper blacks and highlights that will pop off the screen. This trifecta of technologies unlocks the full potential of 4K HDR content, all the while realising an even slimmer TV designs. However, the company didn’t announce any actual TVs that will ship with the tech on board. A year ago at CES, Sony presented its ultra-thin TV set. Topping the range is the XD93, which is the first TV to use Sony’s brand-new Slim Backlight Drive technology to deliver first class picture quality while still keeping dimensions down to nearly OLED-sized proportions.
Much like Sony’s 2015 range of TV, the XD93 is powered by Android TV, so you’ll be able to access almost all of your favourite Google Play apps straight from your TV.
Following Nvidia’s Consumer Electronics Show briefing last night, Sony will take the stage tonight with its own event at the annual Las Vegas trade show. The contract ration is also admirable, along with other enhancement features.
If you’re looking for something to pair with that 4K TV, Philips is also planning to release the BDP7501 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player this spring. In addition to Smart TV apps such as Netflix, YouTube, VUDU, Xumo, and Pandora, the 6000 Series allows for Wireless Screencasting from select portable devices.
Sony’s COO Mike Fasulo also introduced Life Space UX – its foray into the smart home showing products such as smart light bulbs, projectors and speakers. And also its High-Resolution Audio (“Hi-Res”) products. The former features high-res music playback. It is called H.ear and will come equipped with extra bass.
