Sony Will Release Only Two Major Snapdragon 820 Phones in 2016
The last bit of the rumors is that there will be no Sony phones unveiled during CES 2016, early in the year. Now it seems news contradicting the previous rumor has been released. Instead, Sony is expected to announce the same later in 2016.
There’s now no other information on remaining specs or release dates, but we can likely expect some rustling at the very least at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona at the end of February 2016. The timing of the second device also suggests it may even be released at the IFA 2016 event.
The report noted that in the past Korea vendors have cooperated with local telecom firms in providing services based on new specifications found in newly released smartphones but have yet to solidify such developments for 4K services.
The source claims both of the smart devices will be equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset.
GForGames, citing the credible Chinese source CnBeta, said Sony will introduce two new handsets in June and October 2016, respectively. Variations of the smartphone had little differences between them, like the Xperia Z3+ and Xperia Z4v. As for the back of the device, it usually features glass and there is added protection layered on the corners to protect it in case of drops.
Check out the comparison which includes the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and the Sony Xperia Z5 premium embedded below. At time of writing, no carriers have the Xperia Z5 Premium available on a plan. The Xperia Z6 will probably feature a microSD card slot, so extending the storage of the device will be possible. The trio boots Android 5.1.1 Lollipop straight out the box while having 32GB of native storage expandable up to 32GB via microSD slot.
The Z5 Premium has a 5.5-inch IPS LCD screen, the Z5 has the same display type but in a smaller 5.2-inch screen while the Z5 Compact has the smallest screen size measuring 4.6 inches.
