Sony Xperia X Compact breaks cover, and you didn’t expect that
It is also speculated that a new flagship smartphone at the upcoming IFA 2016 event will be unveiled in September.
Sony’s Xperia X line is enjoying positive reviews, and there are rumors that the Xperia F8331 is actually the codename for the phone model which will be eventually released as the Sony Xperia XR. That may not be the case – a glimmer of hope appeared in the shape of a photo titled “Sony Xperia X Compact”.
Compared to the Sony Xperia XA, which rocks a 5.2-inch 720p display, the Sony Xperia X Compact is likely to house an even smaller 4.6-inch display, much like the Sony Xperia Z5 Compact offers. The earpiece and speaker have been relocated to sit more deeply into the bezel, as does the front-facing camera, much like we’ve seen with the Sony Xperia X.
The power button is also located on one of the sides which could feature a fingerprint scanner.
Evan Blass didn’t tip his hand as to what the Sony Xperia X Compact specifications will bring to the table but did provide us with a look at its design. The phone will come with a black color variant and there’s the possibility that Sony could launch other color variants as well.
The reported processor is said to be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 with 3 GB RAM.
Fears were surrounding the fate of the Sony Xperia Z5 family when the OEM enlisted the Xperia Z3 for the Android N Developer Preview instead of its more recent flagship.
In addition, it could have 32GB of internal memory and the option to add more using a microSD card. The front camera is expected to have a 13MP resolution with the rear camera having a 21MP resolution.
