Sophie Turner Talks Sansa Stark’s Epic Moment on Game of Thrones
It was wonderful! I really loved the idea of the Battle of the Bastards. This is something that past directors on the show have benefited from, and in between this episode and “Hardhome”, Miguel has done two of the most fantastic, action-packed episodes of the show we’ve had a chance to see to date.
Ramsay Bolton is Sansa Stark’s first kill. Her walk away at the end of the scene, that’s one of my favorite shot’s we’ve ever had.
However, Turner conceded that Ramsay was right when he told Sansa, “I’m part of you now”, in the moments before he died.
And after Littlefinger’s Knights Of The Vale smashed through the circle of pikemen about to wipe out Jon’s wildling hordes, the former Lord Commander Of The Night’s Watch pursued a fleeing Ramsay all the way back to Winterfell. After spending most of the series being traded and manipulated as a trueborn daughter of Ned Stark, she married Ramsay Bolton.
“It’s Sansa’s first kill and it’s such a strong moment for her because all her life she’s been affected by these men who have just done such bad things to her”, she said. And while yes, Ramsay did technically win the battle against Jon Snow, Iwan was well aware he wasn’t the one people were rooting for. Now that she’s finally got her revenge and a taste of what it feels like to have power, she’s not going to want to sit around waiting for something else to happen to her; she’s going to make things happen.
The first thing Sansa asked Brienne about when she was rescued was if she knew where Arya was. Weiss also opened up about Sansa’s epic first kill, which he says should be a relief for viewers. But, keeping in mind Cersei’s cleverness, it is easy to expect that she must have her plan B ready to tackle the crisis, even in the absence of her brother and lover, Jaime.
“Jon doesn’t listen to her”, Turner noted. So she does save the day.
Now, of course, Sansa (and Jon, but let’s be real here) owes Littlefinger big time.
“Her reward is killing Ramsay”, she said.
